Bids made in summer of 2023Interest from Middle East remainsOnly 12 months left on contractWHAT HAPPENED?
Talk of the Egyptian superstar heading to the Middle East has rumbled on for some time, with Al-Ittihad said to have lodged a big-money bid during the summer of 2023. No deal was done then and Salah still has 12 months left to run on his contract at Anfield.

The 31-year-old has offered no indication that he will be pushing for a move in 2024, with free agency beckoning next summer. Liverpool have some big decisions to make, as they run the risk of losing a talismanic figure for nothing, and Jose Enrique can see the prolific frontman heading to Saudi Arabia.
WHAT ENRIQUE SAID
Former Liverpool defender Enrique has told of why a deal makes sense for all concerned: “Mohamed Salah isn’t quite the player he was three years ago. He doesn't take on defenders as much, though he’s still a phenomenal goal-scoring machine. If I were Liverpool, and the right offer came in – say, over £100 million – I’d seriously consider it. A move to Saudi Arabia could easily fetch that kind of money. I know Liverpool fans might not agree with me – they love Salah and want all their top players to stay – but sometimes, you have to know when to let go. For instance, I’d renew Virgil van Dijk’s contract without hesitation, but with Salah, there’s the Saudi option, and he could become an even bigger star out there than Cristiano Ronaldo. Last year, there were offers from Saudi Arabia for Salah. We all know that when an offer is made, personal terms have likely been agreed upon, so it's clear he’s is open to the idea of moving on from Liverpool.”

Salah has been at Liverpool since 2017, scoring 211 goals through 349 appearances. He may take the opportunity to sign one more lucrative contract in the Middle East before his value begins to wane, with Portuguese superstar Ronaldo showing at 39 that Saudi Arabia can be the perfect place in which to extend an iconic career.
