Juve earn key 2-1 winOld Lady keep pace with Inter atop Serie AMcKennie and Weah make their markGettyWHAT HAPPENED?
After blasting the same opponents 6-1 on Thursday in the Coppa Italia, Juventus didn't find Sunday's visit to Salernitana quite as simple. Nowhere near it, in fact, as it was actually the hosts that took the lead late in the first half.
Giulio Maggiore's 39th-minute goal left Juventus with it all to do, but the goalscorer's mistake early in the second half ultimately opened the door for a comeback.
Maggiore was sent off with a second yellow card in the 53rd minute, leaving Salernitana with just 10 men to defend against a charging Juve. It didn't take too long for Juve to find their leveler as Samuel Iling-Junior smashed home a loose ball in the box to make it 1-1.
Juve ultimately got their winner very, very late, with Dusan Vlahovic scoring the vital goal to ensure the Old Lady scraped through with three points thanks to a nervy win.

Juve came all the way back to earn three vital points in the Serie A title race. Entering the match, Juve sat five points back of league leaders Inter, who took care of their own business by topping sixth-place Lazio. Now, Juve have pulled right back within two points of Serie A's top spot, as well as seven points clear of AC Milan, who sit in third.
As for Salernitana, the loss will be heartbreaking in the same way their recent collapse against AC Milan was. They remain in last place in a crowded Serie A title race, having dropped points from winning positions against two giants over the last three weeks.
GettyUSMNT IMPACT
As a young, inexperienced USMNT group prepares for January camp, two locked-in starters continue to play their part with Juventus.
McKennie has been one of Juve's best players this season, and he certainly played his part in this one. The American had a few good chances to score, although he couldn't quite direct them into the back of the net, but, even so, he showed signs of danger throughout. His spot in the midfield remains undeniable after starting the season on the bench.
Weah, meanwhile, couldn't quite follow up his golazo from Juve's prior win, but a finish of that magnitude was always going to be hard to follow up! He passed the ball well, but Juve struggled out wide, leading to right wing-back Filip Kostic being taken out at halftime. The second half was a bit better, with Weah helping to set up Juve's opener before being taken off late.
GOAL'S RATINGS
Weston McKennie (7/10):
Will feel frustrated to have not scored, having missed two chances to net a vital goal for his team. Overall, a solid performance, though, as McKennie did plenty of good work in the midfield.
Tim Weah (7/10):
Played a part in Juve's first goal to headline an otherwise quiet effort. Moved the ball well and definitely got better as the game wore on, but Juve, in general, lacked an attacking spark.
